State of Us

Privacy policy

Effective July 26, 2026

State of Us is a private check-in service for invited households of exactly two people. It does not contain advertising, sell personal information, or track people across apps or websites.

Information the service handles

How information is used

The information is used only to authenticate household members, save and display check-ins, calculate private trends, schedule reminders, deliver the current household status to a connected Vestaboard, prevent abuse, and maintain the service.

Sharing

Authentication is provided by Apple. If a household member connects a Vestaboard, the current board layout is sent to Vestaboard for display. State of Us does not share information with advertisers or data brokers and does not use third-party analytics.

Storage and retention

Application sessions are stored in the iOS Keychain. Pending check-ins and reminder settings are stored on the device. Server data is stored on a privately operated service and protected by encrypted backups. Check-in history remains available until the household owner deletes the household. Deleted information may remain temporarily in encrypted backups maintained solely for disaster recovery.

Your privacy choices

A household member can export the household data from Settings. The household owner can permanently delete the household, both members’ check-ins, and active sessions from Settings. Either member can disconnect their Vestaboard token and can stop using Sign in with Apple for State of Us from their Apple Account settings.
